About Lightcraft

Lightcraft is a band that thrives under sadness and melancholia, comprising five long-time friends who – under different circumstances – met and decided to form a band. They pride themselves on their trademark anthemic, melancholic sound, crafting atmospheric songs out of sadness and joy. The band got together in 2004, when they were still studying in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They released an EP in 2006, "The Modern Seasons", while their debut album, "Losing Northern Lights", was unveiled in 2008. Their sophomore album, “Colours Of Joy”, was officially launched in January 2014. Recorded in Jakarta, Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the album is distributed in Indonesia by local record label Demajors. "Colours Of Joy" is also digitally distributed online across the globe via iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Deezer, Google Play and more. In March 2015, lightcraft released a mini-compilation cassette titled “Love Songs & Lullabies”, which contains songs from “Losing Northern Lights” and “Colours Of Joy”, along with the stand-alone single “Lupa”.

lightcraft – who are now currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia – have plenty of experience when it comes to playing live, performing on stages and festivals in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, India and Singapore. Last year, they were invited to play Baybeats Music Festival 2014 in Singapore, as well as performing at Java Soundsfair 2014 in Jakarta. In January 2015, the band played in India for the first time at Saarang 2015 festival at IIT Madras in Chennai. In May 2015, lightcraft made their debut live performance in Canada at Canadian Music Week 2015 in Toronto, and not long after, they played four shows – including at the main Fountain Stage – at Music Matters Live 2015 in Singapore. In August 2015, they embarked on a mini-tour of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while in October 2015, lightcraft will be performing live in Seoul, South Korea for the first time ever at the biggest music showcase festival in the country that is Zandari Festa 2015, which will be happening from October 2-4, 2015.

lightcraft are ambassadors for a non-profit organisation called Bersih Nyok!, which aims to realise a cleaner Jakarta and a better future for the capital city of Indonesia. lightcraft were also recently signed up to become one of the music ambassadors for social media platform migme.

At the moment, the band is also preparing new material for their third album, which they hope could project a different and more mature side of lightcraft compared to their previous releases. It is scheduled to be released sometime next year in 2016.
